Petbnb Guarantee
When is the insurance valid?
The purpose of the Petbnb Guarantee is to provide compensation for medical expenses that arise during pet sitting as a result of an accident. Pet sitting involves human care, and pets, especially dogs, can be unpredictable. We understand that accidents can happen in the blink of an eye. Therefore, Petbnb aims to contribute in case something goes wrong during the pet sitting.
Please note: This coverage only applies to pets under the care of a Petbnb sitter when the owner has paid through the platform.
What is covered:
- A traffic accident;
- Bone fractures;
- Ingestion of foreign objects, toxic gases, or intentionally poisoned food (by third parties);
- A confrontation with another animal resulting in (bite) wounds.
What is not covered:
- Medical costs for treatments due to an accident involving any joint, regardless of the nature of the injury or the location of the joint;
- Medical costs for treatments due to an accident that involve (preventive) parasite control;
- Medical costs for conditions that already existed in the pet before the start of boarding/stay;
- Damage to property, such as furniture and objects (e.g., coats, cars, bikes, etc.).
How does it work in practice?
- Booking and payment via Petbnb: Ensure that the booking and payment have been made through the Petbnb platform to be eligible for the guarantee.
- Veterinarian visit: If the pet needs to visit the vet during the pet sitting, submit both the invoice and the vet's report with your claim.
- Personal pet insurance: If you, as the owner, have your own pet insurance, we ask that you use it first before claiming the Petbnb guarantee.
- Submit to Petbnb: If you don’t have pet insurance, you can submit the claim to Petbnb. Provide the necessary documents (invoice and vet report) to Petbnb to receive reimbursement of 50% of the costs, up to a maximum of €250.
My dog has damaged something
Unfortunately, we cannot offer contents insurance through Petbnb. This is because insurance companies often do not want to provide coverage for damage to property during pet sitting. This is due to the difficulty in verifying the condition of the property before the sitter began, which unfortunately leaves room for potential abuse. It is therefore important that you ensure you have the appropriate contents insurance. Check with your insurance company whether your policy covers damage caused by pets, and consider additional coverage if it does not. In the event of damage to the home, we ask both the sitter and the owner to resolve it together.
